Association of Southeast Asian Nations is a political and economic union of 10 member states in Southeast Asia. It was established on 8 August 1967 in Bangkok, Thailand by 5 leaders – the Foreign Ministers of Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore & Thailand. It promotes intergovernmental cooperation & facilitates economic, political, security, military, educational & sociocultural integration between its members & other countries in Asia.
