INTERNATIONAL BOUNDARIES
India is completely located in the Northern Hemisphere. The mainland stretches from latitude 804 to 3706 North, longitudes 6807 to 97025 East, and measures 3214 kilometres north to south and 2933 kilometres east to west. It has a land border of around 15200 kilometres, with a total coastline of 7517 kilometres that includes the mainland, the Lakshadweep Islands, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Afghanistan and Pakistan have a common border with India in the north-west, China, Bhutan, and Nepal in the north, Myanmar in the east, and Bangladesh in the east of West Bengal. The Palk Strait and the Gulf of Mannar create a short maritime corridor that separates Sri Lanka from India. Bangladesh has India's longest border (4096 kilometres), followed by China, Pakistan, Nepal, Myanmar, Bhutan, and Afghanistan. India's shortest border is with Afghanistan, which is barely 80 kilometres long.
