REMOVAL OF THE SPEAKER
The speaker may be removed from office by a resolution passed by a majority of the Lok Sabha's total membership. However, such a resolution may be moved only if a member has given at least 14 days' notice of his intention to move such a resolution. The charges against the speaker must be properly stated in this resolution. When the house is considering such a resolution, the speaker is prevented from presiding over the house. In that scenario, the Deputy Speaker or, if he is unavailable, any member of the Chairman's Panel preside.
The Speaker, on the other hand, has the right to be present during the debate on this resolution and to defend himself. The resolution must be approved by a majority of the house's entire membership. The speaker is dismissed from his position, and another member is elected as speaker. Until that time, the Deputy Speaker serves as Speaker.
